Past
“Happiness is good health and a bad memory.”—Ingrid
Bergman
Many
of us, in an attempt to “modernize” aspects of our lives, specifically
our approach to overall health, forget the old “tried and true”
solutions for digestive health. Our ancestors understood that health
begins by building a strong, balanced environment of minerals,
electrolytes, and health-enhancing bacteria. Additionally, they
understood the important role of goat-milk and its benefits, which
explains why 72 percent of the milk consumed in the world is from
goats. Its health secret lies in its duality of being half-cleansing
and half-building. Products made from goat’s milk are easily tolerated
because it is most like human milk in composition, therefore readily
digestible. Our bodies digest goat’s milk in just 20 minutes;
conversely, it takes two to three hours to digest cow’s milk
The additional benefits of goat’s milk include:
- Its fat molecules are one-fifth the size of cow’s
milk—making it more easily tolerated by those with compromised
digestive systems.
- It is one-third richer than cow’s milk, yet more
nourishing and easier to digest.
- It has no cream separation because of smaller fat
molecules (easier on a compromised liver).
- It’s closer in composition to human milk, making
it better accepted by those with allergies, the very young, or the
frail.
- It creates an alkaline reaction; cow’s milk has
an acidic reaction.
- It does not form mucus or phlegm as does cow’s
milk.
- It sweetens the intestinal tract and assists with
constipation.
Six years ago, I personally developed a
life-threatening digestive disorder as a result of a serious accident
and the aftermath of drug side effects. Goat’s milk, and products
derived from it, were literally the “saving nutrients” that provided
the nutrition my severely malnourished body needed while also
assisting to repair my digestive system.
Present
“Another day, another choice.” —Saundra Sharp
Each day we have a new opportunity to make choices
that have profound effects on our lives, with those affecting our
health being paramount. The integrity of the structural elements on
which we build health pay higher dividends than any other investment
made.
Minerals are an integral part of that structural
foundation; without a strong mineral matrix, body systems are subject
to a slow decline leading to eventual disease and reduction or loss of
quality of life.
Yes, vitamins and enzymes are important; however, it
is minerals that are the acid neutralizers of stomach acids (pH),
allowing for healthy digestion and absorption of nutrients. This is
especially important in compromised digestive systems, as in leaky gut
syndrome, irritable bowel, Crohn’s disease, and autoimmune and
malnutrition syndromes.
Minerals assist with pH Balance
Minerals support the intestinal tract by assisting
to create an alkaline environment unfriendly to bacteria and viruses.
Why is an alkaline environment important to good health? Because when
acidity is prominent, our defenses decline in the following ways:
1. Enzyme activity provides all biochemical
actions within the body. When its delicate pH balance (alkalinity) is
disrupted, especially for prolonged periods of time, enzyme activity
is decreased, allowing an “open invitation” for illness. If enzyme
activity ceases, death occurs.
2. Tissue acidity is often at the foundation
of inflammatory disorders. The acids inflame organs they come in
contact with, particularly the skin (hives, itching, eczema, red
blotches) and kidneys. In addition, harsh acid can manifest as pain in
joints (arthritis, fibromyalgia), nerves (neuritis), intestinal
problems (enteritis, leaky gut, colitis) and, in the anus, as a
burning that can actually become a chemical-type burn in extreme
cases. Tissues invaded long-term by an extreme acidity become
vulnerable to viral and bacterial infections. Overall immune system
effectiveness declines with acidic conditions, lowering production and
strength of white blood cells (the body’s army that attacks microbes).
3. Loss of minerals occurs as a result of
excess acid, because the body requires alkaline minerals to neutralize
acids. This excess acid can affect any organ since alkaline minerals
are stored within all body tissues. A weakened skeletal structure and
teeth are the result of loss of calcium from an acidic state. Loss of
minerals also causes hair and nails to loose their shine, become
brittle and split, not to mention acceleration of dry skin, cracks and
premature aging.
Minerals not only constitute the essential “makeup”
of tissue structure, they also work in synchronicity (in balance) with
one another, as well as with the metabolism of proteins,
carbohydrates, fats and vitamins. Additionally, minerals are the
body’s electrical transmitters—receiving the right messages is vital,
not only when faced with a chronic fight for health, but also in
maintaining the health we’ve achieved. Minerals act as electrical
signals to every cell through body fluid transmission.
The choice to provide the mineral and electrolyte
matrix is an important one, especially as it pertains to the type of
replacement used. Since minerals are primarily stored in the body’s
bones and muscle tissue, the minerals must be carried by the blood to
the cells and then absorbed by cell membranes to be utilized.
Consequently, we can now benefit from the ancient practice of mineral
supplementation—minerals from fresh
goat-milk whey.
The
mineral supplement I use, and recommend to the thousands I consult
with, is
Capra
Mineral Whey. To my knowledge, this is the only mineral
supplement in the U.S. made from fresh goat’s milk. Capra Mineral Whey
contains a broad array of more than 20 naturally occurring minerals in
a highly complex whole food form which our bodies recognize and
utilize with ease. This natural complex of minerals is superior in
“reconnecting” the body’s electrical system while also benefiting
digestive health because it’s predigested—especially important for
those with compromised absorption and digestive systems. It is
said that in parts of Eastern Europe, goat-milk whey is sold for more
money per ounce than gold—an ancient food valued for its
health-enhancing properties now a “present” we can benefit from in the
U.S.
Probiotics
It isn’t enough to merely provide minerals as a
foundation on which to build and maintain health; we also need to
continue the “building” process by adding to our inherent “army” of
health-enhancing bacteria known as probiotics (meaning tiny
microorganisms working to preserve life).
The human body is designed to serve as home to
billions of health-enhancing bacteria—tiny “warriors” who fight hard
as your defense system, assisting immune functions by warding off
viruses, bad bacteria and fungi.
When certain drugs are consumed, specifically
antibiotics, they kill both the “good” and “bad” bacteria, leaving us
vulnerable to infection and intestinal disorders. A healthy intestine
should contain approximately 80 percent “friendly” bacteria and 20
percent “unfriendly”—a critical balance for health. Any unhealthy
condition may endanger the fine balance of the intestinal ecology,
reducing protection for the lower gastrointestinal tract (GI).
A Predictable Reoccurrence
When an individual consumes an antibiotic, it
“kills” all bacteria in the G.I. tract—good and bad. More often than
not, some type of infection manifests within six to eight weeks (cold,
flu, earache, sinusitis, yeast infections, etc.) after antibiotic
therapy. There are certainly instances where antibiotics are necessary
and life-saving. However, the health-depleting effect of antibiotic
therapy can be minimized, at least, by supplementing with
health-enhancing probiotics after therapy.
My Favorite “Anti-Antibiotic”
As a doctor, researcher, and recovered victim of a
life-threatening digestive disorder, I’m especially particular about
the type of probiotics I use and recommend. I’m therefore constantly
searching for the most effective products and ingredients. The
following are components on which I insist:
- A natural probiotics blend containing six strains
of bacteria that remain viable in the stomach en route to the
intestinal tract while optimizing digestion and immune functions.
- The population count must be high, and
microorganism strains viable.
- It must be cultured to survive stomach acids and
the digestive process.
- It must be capable of forming colonies in the
intestinal tract where they aid in nutrient absorption and establish
proper pH.
- It must be able to implant in most colonic
environments.
- It must thrive in acidic conditions—common in
digestive and chronic disorders.
Researching
the health-enhancing benefits of goat-milk products, I searched for
one that met all my specifications and is fermented in natural goat’s
milk.
CaproBiotics Advanced fulfills all the prerequisites mentioned
to equip our “army” of defenders, naturally. CaproBiotics Advanced is
a “shelf stable” probiotic formula cultured in goat’s milk, providing
over 10 billion beneficial microorganisms per serving.
Future

before.” —Tiffany Francis
You Can "C" the Consequences
Our society and health care professionals encourage
a “balanced” diet, yet the public is not being educated about
anti-nutrients as health saboteurs. For example, even “healthy” foods
have lost their health value because the soil they’re grown in is
depleted of health-enhancing nutrients and minerals. According to the
Weston A. Price Foundation, “Today’s farming methods may be producing
more food but yielding less value—some commercially raised oranges
have been found to contain no vitamin C,” a perfect example of an
“Empty Harvest.” The same emptiness applies to the mineral content in
today’s food supplies as a consequence of depleted soil from chemical
farming and food processing.
Any discussion about health and the health-enhancing
nutrients in goat’s milk would not be complete without considering
what the Journal of the American Medical Association had to say under
the heading of dietetics and hygiene: “The goat is the healthiest
domestic animal known, and its milk is superior in every way to cow’s
milk. Goat-milk is the purest, most healthful, and most complete food
known.”
Daily, our health is being robbed of its life-giving
nutrients by substances we consume (and can control) and those we’re
exposed to environmentally (most often, out of our immediate control).
When you learn about the overwhelming health benefits of goat-milk and
products derived from it, you are equipped with the tools necessary to
build a future through time-tested discoveries from the past,
available in the present to enhance our future health, naturally.
