Chapter selects only the purest whole herbs, that are organically
grown and/or pesticide free. New Chapter also uses a whole-herb approach
it all of its herbal therapeutic formulas including the Lemon Balm force
by using the full spectrum of beneficial compounds from Lemon Balm.
Lemon Balm’s therapeutic constituents include: several
citrus bioflavonoids leteolin including apigenin (which are natural
antioxidants, reducers of inflammation, reducers of DNA oxidative
damage, anti-tumor, and blocking uric acid - helpful for gout). The
tannins and polyphenols including caffeic and rosmarinic acid have a
strong antiviral and antibacterial effect. Lemon Balm also contains the
volatile oils citronellal and citrals A and B which has mild sedative
properties. Lemon Balm has analgesic (pain relieving) effects because it
contains eugenol. With aromatherapy, the fragrance can calm the mood.
New Chapter

Supercritical extraction process to gently extract all of the
therapeutic compounds from its herbal therapeutic formulas, including
the Lemon Balm Force. New Chapter’s special extraction process ensures
you receive the maximum benefits of the whole herb, it its purest form,
free from high heat processing and industrial chemical solvents that can
be harmful for health.
Lemon Balm herb is generally regarded as safe.
As with all herbs, pregnant and breastfeeding women should consult their
doctor before use. Ask your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking
sedatives (for insomnia or anxiety) or medications to regulate your
thyroid, before taking Lemon Balm. Lemon Balm may interact with
sedatives, so Using Lemon Balm with other drugs or herbs that cause
drowsiness may cause excessive drowsiness. Lemon Balm has been shown to
interfere with the thyroid stimulating hormone, thyrotropin, so it may
interfere with thyroid medications for hypothyroid (low thyroid)
conditions, but there are no reports of this herb causing thyroid
problems. Some studies indicate that Lemon Balm could be supportive for
Graves Disease (hyperthyroidism).
