Putting out the Internal Fires of Inflammation
 – Dr’s Prescription for Healthy Living Article

In the past two newsletters, we discussed the “carpenters or builders” of healthy joints and tissues (FYI Ultra and Capra Flex). As promised, this month we will discuss the “fireman” of inflammation, Zyflamend by New Chapter. If we have to put out a fire in a building, we call the fireman first to put out the fire and then we call in the carpenters to restore and rebuild the house. The same is true in our bodies. If we have an inflamed condition in our bodies, we call in the “internal fireman – Zyflamend” to put out the fire of inflammation first and then rebuild our body with the proper nutrients or carpenters, depending on the health condition.

Zyflamend is designed to promote a healthy inflammation response and to reduce the pain of inflammation. In addition, it can help offer protection against other inflammatory conditions, including cancer, heart disease and autoimmune disease. Zyflamend contains a multitude of inflammation response herbs including Holy Basil, Ginger, Turmeric, Green Tea, Oregano, Rosemary, Hu Zhang, Chinese Goldthread, Barberry and Skullcap.

Healthy Omega 3 Fatty Acids can Prevent Disease by Preventing Inflammation Response in our Body

Inflammation is a root cause of many health ailments today. Our Standard American diet is full of Omega 6 fatty acids and lacks Omega 3 fatty acids, which over time, can set off a “domino effect” of inflammation in our internal systems, eventually resulting in disease. Before the “Modern American Diet”, we obtained a balanced ratio of Omega 3 to Omega 6 fatty acids. Now, most people are getting 10 to 20 times more Omega 6 than Omega 3’s. Omegas 3’s are typically obtained from fish oils, flax seed, omega 3 eggs and grass fed meats. See CODmega Caps or Cod Liver Oil by Garden of Life, or SuperCritical DHA 100 by New Chapter for good sources of Omega 3 fatty acids.

Proteins – A Quick Reference: Alternative Medicine Article
by Gloria Gilbere ND, DA Hom, PhD

The following article provides information on the types of protein, the importance of protein and the manifestations of protein deficiency. It also describes the benefits of CaProtein by Mt. Capra, which is a lacto-fermented, organic source of goat protein that contains naturally occurring probiotics. This fermentation process creates biologically active lactic acid that supports energy production and fat-burning, and is essential for establishing a proper pH balance in the gastrointestinal track and body tissues. Since Capra goats are never fed pesticide-contaminated food, herbicides, growth hormones or antibiotics, CaProtein can provide an clean & safe source of easily digested protein. Christine’s Tasty & Healthy Smoothie Recipe

My favorite smoothie combines frozen, ripe bananas, super green food powder, goat protein powder, water, frozen blueberries (or Fruits of Life powder), coconut oil or flax seed oil and stevia if needed. The trick to the bananas is to buy a bunch of organic bananas and let them set on the counter until they get freckled and ripe. Then peel them all and put them in freezer bags and freeze them. That way they are at the perfect level of ripeness and sweetness when you need them.

Nourishing Traditions:
The Cookbook that Challenges Politically Correct Nutrition

By Sally Fallon, Mary G. Enig PhD.

We have included a description of this wonderful book to help you understand which are the good dietary fats and which are the bad dietary fats. We have received high reviews of this amazing resource book and cookbook from our customers. This well-researched, thought-provoking guide to traditional foods contains a startling message: Animal fats and (good) cholesterol are not villains but vital factors in the diet, necessary for normal growth, proper function of the brain and nervous system, protection from disease and optimum energy levels. Sally Fallon dispels the myths of the current low-fat fad in this practical, entertaining guide to a can-do diet that is both nutritious and delicious.

Topics include the health benefits of traditional fats and oils (including butter and coconut oil); dangers of vegetarianism; problems with modern soy foods; health benefits of sauces and gravies; proper preparation of whole grain products; pros and cons of milk consumption; easy-to-prepare enzyme enriched condiments and beverages; and appropriate diets for babies and children.
