It's Time for Women to Open a New Chapter for Their
Health
Healthy Living Article by Jodey Brown
In
today’s busy world, there are more demands than ever—marriage, parenting,
a career, caring for elderly parents, and more. And women, who have a
natural tendency to take care of others first and take care of themselves
last, tend to be the most affected by these daily demands.
Carl Pickhardt, Ph.D., a psychologist and author of The Everything
Parent’s Guide to Positive Discipline, explains that “female self-esteem
is often built around adequacy of relationships,” and this is why a woman
is often at risk of letting other people’s needs determine her limits,
while her own needs are ignored. With this in mind, it is more important
than ever for a woman to make a conscious effort to make her own health
and well-being a priority.
Just as Dr. Pickhardt points out the differences between
men and women, the people at New Chapter are well aware of the unique
nutritional needs that women face. New Chapter is a premium natural health
company with a reputation for innovative and well-thought-out products,
including supplements for women at every stage of life, from the
childbearing years through the postmenopausal years.

How
Green Are You?
A Quiz from Sustainable Synergy, Inc.
Determine your greenness by taking this quiz. Going
“green” doesn’t have to involve an overnight overhaul in your lifestyle.
There’s a lot to be said for taking small steps and observing how they
affect your daily activities, your interactions with friends and family,
and even your wallet. For many of us, it is about a journey of awareness
and incorporating feasible, sustainable actions into our lives to promote
and maintain our green ideals.
Here is a simple evaluation of how green your current
lifestyle is—or isn’t. Some of the questions won’t apply to your situation
because of where you live or work, but do your best to answer closest to
your current lifestyle.

A Perfect Food that's Berry Good for You
by Lorin Shields-Michel – Healthy Living Article
What
makes Perfect Food so berry special is its blend of five organic
freeze-dried whole fruits: strawberry, tart cherry, blueberry, blackberry
and raspberry. One serving provides the equivalent of nine grams of
berries and fruits. Plus these antioxidants support the body’s ability to
more effectively utilize vitamin C.
In a major study on fruit and vegetable antioxidant
content published in the June 9, 2004 Journal of Agricultural and Food
Chemistry, berries were at the top of the list in terms of the amount of
available antioxidant ability. Antioxidants are disease-fighting compounds
that scientists believe help repair and/or prevent the stress of
oxidation, a process that occurs naturally during normal cell function.

Lycopene, Pomegranate, and Cancer Prevention
“Superfoods” That Support Your Health by Aaron Katz M.D. - Healthy Living
Article
The
pomegranate has a long tradition of use as a medicinal food, but not many
modern Americans have gone to the considerable effort involved in eating
this strikingly beautiful fruit. Now the pomegranate is hitting the
mainstream due to a sizeable body of research indicating that this food
protects against both cancer and cardiovascular disease.
Another fruit—one widely considered to be a
vegetable—has been the subject of intensive research for several years,
and has particularly interested the urological community, myself included:
the tomato. Studies of populations in various countries have demonstrated
that diets rich in tomatoes appreciably reduce the risk of cancer of the
prostate. Lycopene, a nutrient that belongs to the same class as
beta-carotene, appears to be the most potently anti-carcinogenic,
heart-protective compound in tomatoes.
